The Middle Platte Renaissance Faire, put on by  Stage III Community Theatre, will return to the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds August 15, 16 & 17.  This is Stage III Community Theatre’s fourth renaissance faire — outdoors!

Each year the theater volunteers “plan and man” the faire trying new ideas, new entertainment, new vendors plus the traditional favorites.

The first night is “Masquerade Night” for adults only and will christen the new Middle Platte Renaissace Faire “secret brew” made for the event by Wyoming Brewing.

Sat-Sun: Music – costume contests and more. Back by request: Ceremonial Knighting by the King.

For the kids: Tea with the Queen. Games for all ages.

Jousting: Order of Epona from Colorado will be jousting (and claim to bring their own dragon).

Demonstrations of strength, will and passion: Renaissance Scots Living History Association of Colorado; local  Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).  There were a few challenges thrown down last year and sword fighting ensued.  It wouldn’t be at all surprising if the challenges fly again this summer!

And more — a magician, fire eater, belly dancers, musicians, mermaid and the ever-popular faeries. Plus a chess tournament.

Photo Opportunities: Guests are invited to take photos at various locations around the grounds which will be set-up for “Photos by You”.  Costumes will be available for the photos if wanted as well as a camera volunteer, so everyone can be in the picture!

The entire event is put on by members of Stage III Community Theatre.  Planning begins in October and continues until the last booth is set up.  It is a great opportunity to learn a bit of history while having a great day.

Vendors and volunteers are required to dress in period dress and vendor booths are expected to have a renaissance flavor.  Need help with either booths and costumes? Make an appointment with the faire committee members. For more information: Sharon Berry, 307-265-2842 or call the theater, 307-234-0946.
