From Clothing to Compost

A Swiss manufacturer, Freitag, has designed a new line of clothing that you can throw in your compost bin to be turned into safe compost for your garden.

Everything is biodegradable — from the buttons to the thread. Freitag began working on the idea five years ago. Right now it’s only sold in Europe because they wanted  to avoid the global production process, which picks up raw fiber in one country, ships it to another for preparation, to another for weaving, still another for construction.

We can’t run the story or photos on our website, but to read the story and see some of the clothes, click here.
